Candle Care Guide – Tips for Burning Handmade Soy Candles

Candle Care Guide – How to Get the Most from Your Handmade Candles

At Zenglow, every candle is lovingly hand-poured in small batches using premium natural soy wax, lead-free cotton wicks, and high-quality fragrance oils.

Because each piece is handmade, slight imperfections such as small air bubbles or gentle frosting may appear — these are natural traits that make each candle beautifully unique, just like a piece of art.

Before You Light Your Candle

Due to the organic nature of soy wax, your candle will melt in its own unique way. To protect your surfaces, always place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant dish or tray — ceramic or metal works best.

Before every burn, trim your wick to around 5mm to prevent smoke and ensure a clean, even flame.

The First Burn Matters

Did you know soy wax has a memory?

To help your candle burn evenly and avoid tunnelling, let the melt pool reach the outer edges of the candle before extinguishing it. This is especially important during the very first burn.

While Burning

  • Never leave a candle unattended or burning overnight.
  • Keep it away from children, pets, and drafts.
  • Avoid moving the candle while the wax is still hot or liquid.

After Care

To maintain the fragrance and extend the life of your candle:

  • Limit each burn to no more than 2 hours at a time.
  • Allow the wax to fully cool and harden before relighting.
  • Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent discolouration and scent fading.

Each Zenglow candle is more than just a light — it’s a reflection of craftsmanship, care, and mindful living. With the right attention, your candle will continue to fill your space with warmth, beauty, and calm for many cozy evenings to come.
